Use the following instructions to modify the location of a single polygon on the map.

Note: The following instructions only apply to records that have one presence polygon within a Searched Area and for which the newly drawn Presence location will fall completely outside the existing Searched Area. If the new location is partially within the Searched Area, use these instructions instead.

Step 1: Open the Presence Record that you would like to move or modify the location of

  • Use the Find tool or Zoom to the location on the map and identify the feature you want to edit.
  • Click on the "Details" button next to the record in the Table View in the Map to open the record

Step 2: Edit the Record

  • Click on Edit in the upper left-hand corner of the record
  • Click "Edit on Map" underneath the Map in the record to begin the editing process.
Note: If you don't see the "Edit" button in the record, you don't have permissions to edit this record. Contact you Jursidiction Admin for more information.

Step 3: The Map will zoom to the location of the shape that needs to be moved (it may take several moments for the map to zoom to the location). If you only need to move one or two vertices, you can click Edit.  If you want to redraw the entire polygon, click on Redraw.

Note that if the newly drawn polygon is not completely outside of the original Searched Area, the application will clip the newly drawn presence polygon so that it falls within the existing Searched Area. If this is not desired, you should Edit the Searched Area shape first, by going to that record and chosing Edit on Map, complete that editing process, and then edit the Presence record.

Step 4:  Edit or redraw the polygon on the map. When you finish, as long as your new shape is completely outside the Searched Area, you will receive the following warning message: Warning: Drawing was outside of the Searched Area. This will need to be resolved before record completion. The easiest way to do this is to simply click on the "Use Redrawn Shape for New Searched Area" button and it will copy the Searched Area to the newly mapped/edited polygon. You can also choose to redraw or edit the Searched Area manually by choosing Redraw or Edit.

Step 5: If selected, the application will copy the Searched Area to the shape of the new presence polygon

Step 6:  The record summary will appear. Hit "Complete" to finish editing the location
